The Medical Directors of the Oakville Half Marathon are Russell Gunner, C.A.T.(C) and Odyssey Medical. With a wealth of experience supporting diverse clients in a wide range of settings, they are experts in risk management and production safety. They are responsible for a contingent of medical support along the route, as well as a large medical and physio tent at the finish line.
Russell Gunner, C.A.T.(C) Certified Athletic Therapist
Russell Gunner, C.A.T. (C) is an Athletic Therapist certified with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association. The therapeutic medical team that he organizes consists of fellow athletic therapists, physiotherapists and massage therapists from across the GTA.
As an experienced triathlete, Russell has been treating running injuries for over 25 years at Club Physio Plus, one of the leading sports medicine facilities in Mississauga and Oakville. Russell has particular interest in treating running injuries, including Iliotibial band, plantar fasciitis and most other lower extremity issues.
With a team of physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, and osteopaths, Club Physio Plus will focus on each individual client and provide a special level of care allowing them to go above and beyond your expectations.

Kevin Jones is Odyssey’s Executive Director of Event Operations nationally. His tenure with Odyssey goes back to the beginning. Kevin’s passions are in the tactical and operational event delivery. He is committed to crew, patients, and customer positive outcomes.
Kevin has extensive experience in risk management, emergency communication and event operations. Kevin’s experience spans from remote wilderness expeditions to large scale urban sporting events and multi-day, 24/7 music festivals. He has led event medical programs for many large obstacle course events. Building on a background in insurance and education, he is committed to evidence-based decision-making and systems development.
