2020 is now VIRTUAL

To our dedicated supporters and running community,

It is with great sadness we must inform you the 2020 Oakville Half Marathon, which was scheduled for October 3-4, will be postponed to 2021 following the Town’s mandate to withhold large gatherings. The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff and community remains our first priority and we support this decision.

We want to thank you for all the hard work and training you have dedicated to our run. For everyone who has already registered, your registration will be deferred to next year’s event, tentatively scheduled for October 2-3, 2021. We will be back next fall, bigger and better than ever.

We promise to bring you the tradition of the Oakville Half Marathon, the experience that you know and love, virtually this fall. We will be holding a virtual run that will provide you the opportunity to participate from October 1 – October 31. We will also hold weekly contests and draws for various prizes. You must register separately for the virtual run through our website. Registration is $35 for all distances. With your registration, you will receive an official event t-shirt. We will be donating $10 from every registration to the Oakville Hospital Foundation in support of our health care workers. Register at www.oakvillehalfmarathon.com/register.

As we are a small business that has been affected greatly by the pandemic, we would very much appreciate it if you would refrain from requesting a refund if you plan to run with us in 2021. We have made a large financial investment into this year’s event which makes refunds a challenge, as these costs and expenses are not recoverable. We do understand there are some who really need the refund which will be considered, however due to the new safety precautions that will be incorporated into the event, a price increase next year is inevitable. By accepting the deferral to 2021, you would incur no price increase.

To those who run with us every year and to those who would be running with us for the first time, we thank you and appreciate your support. The Oakville running community is strong and resilient and we wish for you to stay safe and we will see you next year.
